Alfons Wegner was born on September, 2nd 1937 in Gdansk.
In 1955 he began an autodidactic study after he finished an apprenticeship. From 1959 on he worked as a freelanced painter in Cologne. At first he worked as a portraitist, then, at the end of the 1960s, he turned to modern painting.
In 1976 he moved to Bavaria (Chiemsee and Tegernsee) with his studio. Afterwards he developed a special way of painting landscapes and animals which led to a high degree of popularity in Germany. These works, which are often dealing with rural live in the past, attract many collectors and friends of art. Parallel to this way of painting he developed different ways of painting various topics.
